Tafsīr is not personal opinion: classical exegetes rely on the Prophet's ﷺ explanations, the understanding of the Companions, Arabic linguistics and the occasions of revelation. Different tafsīr works emphasise different aspects, which is why comparing two commentaries on the same verse is a normal study method.
