مذهبA school of Islamic legal method — Hanafi, Maliki, Shafiʿi or Hanbali.
Definition
A madhhab is not a separate religion or sect but a consistent method for deriving rulings from the Quran and Sunna. The four Sunni schools agree on the fundamentals and differ mainly in how evidence is weighed. Following one school gives a student a coherent path instead of picking isolated opinions.
