Which voluntary fasts are established in the Sunnah?
Answer
Mondays and Thursdays, the white days of each lunar month, six days of Shawwāl, ʿArafah for non-pilgrims and ʿĀshūrāʾ are all reported in authentic narrations. They are recommended, not obligatory.
